Fortress® 5G

Fortress® 5G is a granular soil insecticide for use on field corn, sweet corn, popcorn and seed corn. It controls corn rootworms, wireworms, cutworms, seed corn maggots, white grubs and symphylans on corn at a low use rate of 3.0 oz per 1000 ft. for any row spacing. The amount applied per acre varies from 2.5 to 3.25 lbs based on row spacings of 40-30 inches respectively. Applying at planting in a T-band with incorporation into the top one-inch of soil or in-furrow. Do not apply as a surface band behind the press wheel.

Fortress® 5G can be applied to conventional, conservation and no-till corn. It can rotate to corn anytime. All other crops may be planted 30 days after application. It also performs well under low soil moisture conditions due to its vapor activity. Fortress® 5G rapidly binds to soil and has very low water solubility, resulting in low soil mobility which minimizes leaching and runoff potential.

Fortress® 5G is not systemic and will not interact with corn herbicides. Accent®, Basis® and all other corn herbicides can be applied to corn treated with Fortress® 5G. It can only be applied through the SmartBox™ system, a closed handling and application system. Fortress® 5G / SmartBox™ system increases application accuracy and grower productivity, while maximizing worker and environmental safety.

Fortress® 5G Management:

Fortress 5G should be applied in-furrow at planting using the SmartBox® System, which is a closed handling and delivery system. Fortress 5G can be applied in conventional, conservation till, and no-till corn as an in-furrow treatment. Place the applicator tube either directly into or behind the planter shoe, so the granules drop in the seed furrow. The use of an in-line coil diffuser is highly recommended with the SmartBox System to provide uniform distribution of product in the furrow and to optimize insect control. The in-furrow application method provides consistent control of corn rootworms, and optimizes control of wireworms, white grubs, and seedcorn maggots.

Fortress 5G may also be applied as a T-Band (4 to 5 inch band) at planting, and must be incorporated into the top one-inch of soil using drag chains, tines, or similar equipment for incorporation. The T-Band application method will improve control of cutworms. DO NOT apply Fortress 5G as a surface band behind the press wheel.

All registered corn herbicides may be applied to Fortress 5G-treated corn. Do not apply this product through any type of irrigation system.

Proper calibration of the Smartbox System is required to ensure accurate product application. Contact your local AMVAC sales representative for calibration guidelines.
