Ornazin™ for
Ornamentals
An
IGR from Nature...Naturally!
For
effective control of whiteflies, fungus gnats, leafminers,
thrips, aphids and other
pests in greenhouses...incorporate
Ornazin™ into IPM and resistance management programs.
How does it Work?
Ornazin™ 3% EC contains azadirachtin-
a natural insect growth regulator and an effective
component
of conventional, IPM, or organic pest management programs.
Azadirachtin interferes with the insect's key molting
hormone, ecdysone, and prevents adult emergence.

Pests
Controlled Silverleaf Whiteflies-A major problem
of poinsettias, salvias, hibiscus, gerbera daisies,
verbena chrysanthemums,
carnations, and roses. Monitor greenhouses with yellow
sticky cards and treat with an adulticide when the
number of trapped adults exceeds the threshold. Follow
with two to three weekly applications of Ornazin™ (see
label for proper rates and handling). While Ornazin™ does
not kill adults, it works each time the pest molts-
even in the hard to kill pupal stage.
Fungus Gnats and Shoreflies-A problem
in poinsettias, mums, potted roses, lilies, geraniums,
and other bedding
plants. Monitor for fly activity with yellow sticky
cards. Apply Ornazin™ two to three times per
week as a surface drench until plants are ready for
shipping. Ornazin™ will kill all larval and pupal
stages, and protect from further infestations.
Leafminers- Larvae of leafminers feed
on plant tissue, affecting photosynthesis and reducing
aesthetic appeal.
They are a significant problem on potted mums, dahlias,
gerbera daisies, etc. Controlling leafminer has become
increasingly difficult due to resistance. Ornazin™'s
unique mode of action is key to an effective program.
Start by spraying an adulticide to minimize the eggs.
Follow with two to three weekly (5-7 days apart) applications
of Ornazin™
Aphids-Green peach and cotton melon aphids suck sap
from growing tips of roses, mums, carnations, gerbera
daisies, etc. Aphids can also transmit certain plant
viruses
Monitor activity of alates (winged
aphids) with yellow sticky cards, and begin a control
program of Ornazin™ +
adulticide. Screening of greenhouse is recommended
to physically exclude other pests.
Western Flower Thrips-Feed on the tips and petals
of growing plants See aphid control.
