American Vanguard holds safety performance as a core tenet in supporting our ability to operate in the communities in which our factories are located. Sound processes, collaboration, and communication are the foundation of our robust safety and health programs.

We compare against the total recordable rate (TRR) for our industry (NAICS) and seek to perform better than this benchmark. Our industry has been between 1.6-1.8 TRR.

Injury rates increases are due to our renewed commitment to a timely understanding and response to all injuries and illness. Upticks in TRR are expected when renewing such commitment with a culture of robust and thorough reporting. Our emphasis on leading indicators across the enterprise further develop our ‘Safety First’ culture.

Employee Safety and Health

Although our recordable incident rates increased from 2023 to 2024, we continue to focus on the efforts that are reflected in the large decrease from 2022. We prioritize a Safety First culture by focusing on the most critical risks in our operations along with comprehensive safety training, robust hazard recognition and correction, and re-evaluation of job responsibilities. We continue to reinforce our commitment to a proactive safety and health culture and ensure employees are prepared to perform their jobs safely with a goal to drive down the severity and frequency of incidents.
